Perhaps you have questioned why God revealed what He did reveal in the Scriptures, and why He concealed what He concealed. There are things that we want to know, but He did not reveal them in the Bible. Why? Moses told Israel,

“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law” (Deuteronomy 29.29).

God revealed to Israel what they needed to know to do what He said to do. Think about it, all of the Bible He has revealed for that reason, so that not only ancient Israel but the modern church and anyone in the world can know what He wants done, and we can then go out and do it.

That’s what God wants from us. He just wants us to do what He has said to do, and we can summarize everything that He said to do with two things: Love God and love your neighbor.

• Do you do what God says to do or do you look for reasons to exempt yourself?
• What do you wish God had revealed?
• If He had revealed it, would it have made any difference, would it have contributed to your obedience?
