08.25.2017 – Old Testament: Psa 126.1–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 124–127 on August 25, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Imagine that you have been driven from your homeland, and taken to a foreign nation as slaves. You had watched the total destruction of your nation, and the capital had especially felt the brutal attack of the enemy. Most of your people died. Seventy years later you and the survivors finally get to return home. How do you think that would feel?
When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion,
We were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
And our tongue with singing.
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us,
And we are glad.
It had been nothing but a dream. For 70 years they waited for the moment. It probably seemed as though it would never happen, but it did, filling their hearts with laughter, singing, and gladness.
- What bad thing in your life or family do you want to see reversed?
- Do you dream about it?
