Looking for speedy answers from the Lord

Psalms Bible Background

08.30.2018 – Old Testament: Psa 143.7–8

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 142–144 on August 30, In the year of our Lord 2018

By Don Ruhl

David wanted the Lord to answer his prayers, even showing his desperation with these words:

Answer me speedily, O LORD;
My spirit fails!
Do not hide Your face from me,
Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You.
(Psalm 143.7–8)

David needed answers from the Lord, otherwise the spirit of David would fail, and he would be separated from the Lord. However David trusted in the Lord and lifted his soul to the Lord. By these words, David gave the Lord reasons to answer his prayers.

Questions:

  • Do you give the Lord reasons to answer your prayers?
  • Do you pray without ceasing?
