Do not think that you should be treated better than Jesus was

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 10.24–42 on January 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019

Sometimes persecution surprises us, although Jesus warned that it would come. He even said:

“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!” (Matthew 10.24–25).

Jesus considered verbal assaults as persecution. When it comes, He taught us not to be surprised because after all they called Him Beelzebub. Of course, they will call His followers bad things as well, but remember the Lord Jesus and you shall endure whatever God-haters throw your way.

Questions:

  • How have you endured persecution in the past?
  • Do you want to be like Jesus?
