On the day that the Lord would open a fountain of blood for the forgiveness of sins, He would also cause prophesying to cease (Zechariah 13:1-3). That being the case, the Lord said, “And it shall be in that day that every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies; they will not wear a robe of coarse hair to deceive. But he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a farmer; for a man taught me to keep cattle from my youth'” (Zechariah 13:4, 5).
After prophecy has been sealed up and the prophets cut off; why will it be presumptuous and shameful to claim to be a prophet? Any such prophesying is false. Such a person is a false prophet. These prophets’ prophecies shall fail. Then they will claim they were never prophets.
