How to Speak the Truth

Paul reminded the Thessalonian Church how he and his fellow-preachers delivered the word of God to them, that they did not do it in error, or in uncleanness, or in deceit, “But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts” (1 Thessalonians 2:4).
They understood that God had approved of them and with that in mind, they so spoke, which meant that they did not speak to please men, for they were not the ones who delivered the message to the preachers, but they so spoke as to please God, for He was the One who had delivered the message and He was the One who would test their hearts.
