Jacob started working for his uncle, who wanted to pay Jacob for his work. Then the Bible tells us that Jacob’s uncle had two daughters, and Jacob loved the younger Rachel, who was beautiful in form and appearance (Genesis 29:16, 17).
Jacob offered to work seven years to have Rachel as wife (Genesis 29:18, 19), but to him those years, “seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her” (Genesis 29:20).
Interesting–is it not?–how our thinking affects time! Love will do what it takes, so that years seem as days. Do you love someone? Keep doing what you have to do, and if it is the Lord’s will, He will work things out for you.
