Judah was the fourth oldest son of Jacob, yet, something about Judah made him stand out as a leader. Jacob could see this, and when the family moved to Egypt, the Bible says, “Then [Jacob] sent Judah before him to Joseph, to point out before him the way to Goshen. And they came to the land of Goshen” (Genesis 46:28).
This is a hint on why the Lord Jesus came from the tribe of Judah, for Jesus is the ultimate Leader.
