In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus showed a man casting seed on four different soils, each of which grew differently (Mark 4:4-8). Knowing that the seed represents the word of God, look at the soils, the seeds, and the plants:
1. Wayside: Birds devoured the seed.
2. Stony ground: Sprang up immediately, but the plant withered in the hot sun.
3. Thorns: Thorns choked the new plant, and it yielded no crop.
4. Good ground: Yielded a crop.
