Look at what Israel had to do every seven years as a nation, “So Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel. And Moses commanded them, saying: ‘At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of release, at the Feast of Tabernacles, when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing'” (Deuteronomy 31:9-11).
I do not know what it is, but there is something about hearing the word of God read at a public assembly. We can each read the Scriptures on our own, but when a preacher or an elder opens the Bible and reads a portion of it publicly, it brings reverence and awe into my heart.
Are you elder? Why not read without comment some Scripture to your congregation?
