John the baptizer was a powerful force and influence just before Jesus made His mark in the world. John’s influence was so great that John the apostle had to say, “This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light” (John 1:7, 8).
Some made John greater than he was, but God did use John to reveal to Israel and to the world that Jesus of Nazareth is the Light of God.
Are we not like John? Sometimes people may think of us greater than they should, but the truth still is we should point people to Jesus, because God wants to use us for that very purpose.
