He who received, also paid

The tribe of Levi received tithes from the nation of Israel, yet, Levi also paid tithes,

“Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him” (Hebrews 7:9-10).

Levi was Abraham’s great-grandson, making Abraham greater, but Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek, making him greater yet.

However, the writer is arguing that Jesus is even greater than Melchizedek.

Also, it is interesting to see how he who receives also gives. We cannot be receivers only, nor can we be givers only, but for relationships to work, giving and receiving must flow freely between all involved.
