God asked Solomon what he wanted, and he asked for understanding to judge God’s people, and the ability to discern between good and evil. 
Then the Bible says, 

“The speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing” (1 Kings 3:10). 

If God asked you what you wanted, what would you say and would it please Him that you had asked for it?
