The friends of Job believed that the righteous never suffer, and that the wicked are always cut off before their time, but Job tended to over-argue as well in the other direction, believing that the righteous are always cut off early, and that the wicked seem to endure forever,
“How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? How often does their destruction come upon them, the sorrows God distributes in His anger?” (Job 21.17–21).
Often the Lord cuts off the wicked, but often the wicked live long lives, even as the Lord often extends the lives of the righteous, but often the righteous live short lives.
We cannot make generalizations, because both the wicked and the righteous live on the same planet, and things happen differently in everyone’s life.
We should live our lives with eternal life in heaven on our minds, and if we do so, it will have a positive influence on our lives on earth, but we cannot say that it will always work that way.
