God and food

What is food when it comes to God? Paul declared,

“But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse” (1 Corinthians 8:8).

I eat meat, and you do not; I am not better than you, and you are not better than me. Does eating or abstaining impress God? It only does, if we are exercising self-control, part of the fruit of the Spirit, otherwise, He has given us ten thousand things to eat on this planet.
Therefore, if I am commended to God because I eat something, what about all the other things I do not eat?

If I am commended to God because I do not eat something, what about all the things I do eat?

We need to eat, but our relationship to God far exceeds in importance what we eat or do not eat.
