The spirit of jealousy

The Lord knows that as humans we sometimes become jealous, and so in the Law of Moses, He provided a way for jealousy to be confirmed or rebuked,

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘If any man’s wife goes astray and behaves unfaithfully toward him…if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him…’” (Numbers 5:11–31).

The rest of the chapter explained the process by which the matter could be resolved. The first thing that struck me about the procedure was that the idea of forgiveness was not brought up, although that is dealt with in other passages.

It is just like today, such as in Matthew 19:9, where Jesus implies that a marriage can be dissolved, if fornication has taken place, but that does not mean that divorce has to happen, for He and His apostles taught the necessity of repentance and forgiveness.
