The silent Jesus

False witnesses hurled accusations against Jesus, but He remained silent, shocking the high priest,

And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying,

“Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” (Mark 14:60).

Everyone wants to defend himself when accused falsely, but Jesus remained quiet, because anything He would or could have said, they would have rejected. They had determined to condemn Him, and they just needed to feel justified for doing it by having gone through a trial.
Then again, by saying nothing, He said much.
