People often say that with God all sins are alike, but if that is true, why did Jesus say the following?
“And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more” (Luke 12:47–48).
From this we learn that disobeying out of knowledge and disobeying out of ignorance are two different things, and the Lord treats them differently, although He did not say that the ignorant one escapes punishment.
That points out another thing we can learn, that although someone does not know the Lord’s will, that person still must do what the Lord wants and will suffer for disobedience.
