After David became king, he had to deal with people of the household of Saul, and with Israelites still loyal to his house. The Bible introduces us to two of them in this manner,
Now Saul’s son had two men who were captains of troops. The name of one was Baanah and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin. (For Beeroth also was part of Benjamin, because the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have been sojourners there until this day.) (2 Samuel 4:2–3).
That first sentence lets us know that the writer will focus on those two men, but will it be a good report or an evil one? We have to keep reading to find out.
If someone wanted to write about your life, and they began it in a manner similar to that first sentence, how would the rest of the story play out?
