Try to bless the Lord, he will outdo you

The Lord made a wonderful promise and prophecy to King David, revealing that after he died, the Lord would set up David’s seed, and establish his kingdom, establishing his royal throne forever,

“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever” (2 Samuel 7:12–16).

While you can probably see some fulfillment in Solomon, ultimately Jesus fulfilled this passage, but what I want us to concentrate upon, is what prompted this magnificent promise and prophecy from the Lord.

David lived in a fine house, but he realized that the Ark of the Testimony only dwelt in a tent, and so he wanted to build a wonderful house for the Lord.

David had the best intentions in his heart, and he loved the Lord, and wanted to do something wonderful for Him, and David knew that he had the resources for such a project.

However, the Lord explained to David why he would not be allowed to do such a thing, and then the Lord revealed how He would bless David!

Try it. Try to bless the Lord, doing something wonderful for Him, and see what happens.
