Were two swords enough?

Jesus said to His disciples that those who did not have a sword, should buy one, explaining that He had to die as it had been prophesied concerning him, and then Luke wrote,

So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough” (Luke 22:38).

Jesus had just quoted Isaiah 53, and said that the things concerning Him had an end. Two swords were enough to fulfill Isaiah 53. The disciples did not seem to understand what He meant.

Some scholars believe Jesus meant enough of this discussion, because the apostles misunderstood Him.

Also, two swords were not enough to defend their number of men.

A possibility is that Jesus did not necessarily mean for the disciples to buy swords, but since He quoted Isaiah 53.12 that He would be numbered among the transgressors, alluding to His death, He may have meant for His enemies to buy the swords, the instruments of death, that they might kill Him as foretold in Isaiah 53.

His enemies were not present, unless Judas was still there, but He spoke in general that everyone had to do what they had determined to do.
