In my experience, I cannot find sadder verses in the word of God than John 1.10, 11,

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him (John 1:10–11).

First, Jesus created the world, but when He entered the world, the world did not even know who He was, although His miracles showed Him to be the Creator.

Second, if the world at large did not know Him, then truly His own people, the nation of Israel with the oracles of God, specifying the identifying marks of the Messiah coming into the world, would know Him, but they did not receive Him.
