Jesus met a woman from Samaria and asked her for a drink of water, because she had gone out to a well to get water, and Jesus did not have anything with which to draw water.
Then He spoke to her of the water He could give her, but she replied in this manner,
“Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” (John 4:11–12).
This woman clearly had no idea who stood before her, asking for a drink of water. Why should she have known? He did not look divine, but just appeared to be a Jewish man.
Have you met someone, not knowing who they were initially, until you talked some more and discovered that he or she knew more about the subject than you did?
Always be humble before people, for you never know who stands before you, and remember this passage,
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels (Hebrews 13:2).
