Jesus believed in order and decency, and He believed in giving thanks for food. When thousands of people needed to eat, this is what He did,
Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted (John 6:10–11).
He did not want the people rushing to get food, stampeding all over one another, but He wanted things done in an orderly, hence peaceful manner.
Knowing that food comes from God, Jesus gave thanks before giving to all freely that they might eat.
