When you read the story of David, notice how people were loyal to him, although he did not demand it, but he lived in such a way that people knew him to be a man of God, and they knew he had the leadership skills that the nation needed, and so they supported him,

Now these were the heads of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel (1 Chronicles 11:10).

When you find a man who follows the Lord, strengthen that man. Do not make him more important than the Lord, but recognize what these men of David recognized in him, that the Lord approved of David.
