Simple truths will get you into trouble

Jesus stated simply,

“I and My Father are one” (John 10:30).

The Jews did not like that, and they were ready to kill Him for it, but He wanted to know why they wanted to kill Him, and notice their answer, which is how they interpreted His statement that He and His Father are one,

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God” (John 10:31–33).

How could they stone Him for doing good works? Yet, they often wanted to kill Him for healing people on the Sabbath.

Here they explained that when He said, “I and My Father are one,” He made Himself equal with God, and they were correct. However, Jesus spoke the truth and that is not worthy of death.
