Why Jesus washed the feet of His disciples

Jesus ate with His twelve disciples. After eating, He washed the feet of His disciples, but Peter objected. However, the Lord explained that if He did not wash the feet of Peter, he would have no part with Jesus. Hearing that, Peter told the Lord not to wash his feet only, but also his hands and his head.

Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean” (John 13:10–11).

Jesus washed their feet only because they were all clean, except one of them, Judas Iscariot. Therefore, Jesus symbolically washed the feet of the disciples to illustrate that He was removing Judas from them.

Jesus knows if you are one with His church, but if not, and if other things mean more to you than Jesus does to you, He will remove you from His body.
