Abijah, the new king of Judah, said to Jeroboam and Israel that they had forsaken the Lord and made priests for themselves from men not of the tribe of Levi. Then Abijah explained why the Lord was with Judah,
“But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken Him; and the priests who minister to the Lord are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties…Now look, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with sounding trumpets to sound the alarm against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the Lord God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper!” (2 Chronicles 13:10–12).
Abijah spoke the truth. Consequently Israel lost the battle, because loyalty to God is not a light matter; nothing surpasses it.
Make loyalty to God and doing things His way, the priority of your life.
