When the Jews arrested Jesus, Peter immediately took action, seeking to prevent them from taking His Lord,
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus (John 18:10).
Peter made a bold move, evening trying to cut off the head of one of the men, but Malchus ducked hard to his left, exposing his right ear, and Peter cut it off. However, Jesus disapproved of what Peter did,
So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?” (John 18:11).
Peter did not realize that he sought to prevent Jesus from fulfilling the will of God to be a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Peter had zeal, but not according to knowledge.
