As Ezra contemplated the sin of his people, it made him more aware of the Lord’s endless mercy,
“For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us…And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments…” (Ezra 9:9–12).
We want blessings from the Lord, but often we forget that we have violated His will repeatedly, and that should lead us to confession of our sin, and confession of the Lord’s mercy toward us in spite of the multitude of our sins.
His abundant mercy does not mean we should continue in sin, but that we should thank Him endlessly for His mercy, and seek to walk in His commandments with all our might.
