It began in the synagogues

The Holy Spirit sent Paul and Barnabas on a mission, and they brought along John,

“So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as their assistant” (Acts 13:4-5).

From that a great work developed in the city of Salamis, spreading to the other side of the island of Cyprus to the city of Paphos. It all began by preaching in the synagogue, that is, to people already familiar with the word of God with the hope of the Messiah in their hearts.

The preachers simply told them that the Messiah had arrived and wonderful things happened.

Teaching first those who know the word of God can get wonderful things started, but it should not remain with them alone, for the rest of the world needs to hear the things we know from the word of God.
