Preaching, and preaching some more

The church in Troas gathered in an upper room (the third floor) of a facility, and they had many lamps burning, because it was evening. Paul preached a long time, and as typically happens during a sermon, someone fell asleep, and because he sat in the window, he fell out, plunged three stories, and died (Acts 20.8, 9).

Paul ran down and raised the young man up (Acts 20.10), and continued to speak even until the next morning (Acts 20.11).

When the church brought in the young man alive, Luke says that they were not a little comforted (Acts 20.12), which was an intentional way of underemphasizing their joy that in the process truly emphasized their joy.

Is preaching and teaching the word of God that important? I believe it is. What do you think?
