See the progression of David in the following selection from Psalm 28, as he first praises the Lord for hearing David’s supplication, but then he goes into more detail,

Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
(Psalm 28:6–7)

1. David said that he trusted the Lord, and received help.
2. Therefore, David rejoiced in his heart greatly.
3. David would then praise the Lord with a song.
