As Paul and his friends traveled from Europe on their way to Jerusalem, they stopped in Caesarea in the land of Israel, and a prophet spoke of Paul,
When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’” Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem (Acts 21:11–12).
This was not the first warning of what would happen to Paul in Jerusalem, but his love for his Jewish brethren drove him on, but the love of the members of the church moved them to try to stop Paul, not wanting harm to come to him.
