The fact that Earth still exists ought to show everyone that the Lord is committed to us, but He wants commitment in return, and for that He commits Himself to us in even greater ways, as the psalmist said,

I will praise You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
I will keep Your statutes;
Oh, do not forsake me utterly!
(Psalm 119:7–8)

When the psalmist learned the Lord’s righteous judgments, the psalmist could then praise the Lord with an upright heart. That led to a determination to keep the Lord’s statutes, and the Lord would not forsake the psalmist.
