The Lord revealed that when He would punish Babylon, He would wipe them out, promising,

“I will punish the world for its evil…
I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold…”
(Isaiah 13.11–16)

Some people like to paint a picture of the Lord that He is simply a divine grandpa who would never discipline, but be sure to read the full quotation that I put in the Scripture reference, and you will see what He said He would do to Babylon, and then remember what happened to Babylon, and you will learn that the Lord says what He means, and means what He says.
