The abundance of God’s goodness toward us

Often when people think of the blessings of God, they seem to digress to the material blessings of Earth, but Paul lifted us up in the spirit when he showed us the generosity of our God, saying,

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him (Ephesians 1.7–10).

Jesus did not die to bless us in the flesh, but to give us the forgiveness of sin, which is a blessing of the spirit, and it flows from His endless grace. Everything in history, whether recorded in the Bible or outside of it, from Jesus back to the beginning, drove toward the great thing that Jesus would do to bless us in the spirit.

Praise God for the abundance of His goodness toward us!
