Paul spoke to the Philippian Church of his affection for them, declaring that God Himself could witness to Paul’s affection,

For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1.8).

The God of heaven could peer into Paul’s soul and see that the same affection for people that dwells in Jesus Christ, also dwelt in Paul, because God can know those things about us.
