After we have been Christians for a while, we sometimes go through a period when we forget why the Lord called us, and we then start to fall back into some of our old practices from which the Lord had saved us. Paul reminded the Thessalonian Christians,

For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness (1 Thessalonians 4.7).

God did not call us in our sin that we might remain in it, but He called us from it that we might cease doing it.
