The Lord showed something to Jeremiah and asked the prophet what he saw. He said that he saw a boiling pot facing away from the North, so that its contents would be poured toward the South (Jeremiah 1.13).

If you were in the South, as Jeremiah was, what would you think? Danger was headed his way, and the Lord revealed what this pot represented,

Then the Lord said to me:
“Out of the north calamity shall break forth
On all the inhabitants of the land.
For behold, I am calling
All the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says the Lord…
(Jeremiah 1.14–16)

That army would fight against Judah because the nation had forsaken its God, the God of Israel and had worshiped false gods.

Friends, nothing reigns higher in this universe, then the one true and living God. Other claims to rule over our lives is a fraud. Are you worshiping the one true God?
