Some people desire to be teachers, but do not truly know what they are saying, even as some desired to be teachers of the Law, but did not understand what they were saying. However, as Paul told Timothy, there is a place for law,
But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust (1 Timothy 1.8–11).
God gave law to prevent us from harming one another. When the wicked, a criminal, violates the law, then we can punish him. That is one of the purposes of law. This fits in with the second greatest commandment, which is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
Follow the glorious gospel, which Paul mentioned, and you shall always do the right thing and will have nothing to fear.
