The nation of Judah and the city of Jerusalem chose Baal over the God who led Israel out of Egypt and gave them the Land of Canaan, but it was a bad choice, because the Lord God of Israel sent the Babylonians against His nation and His city, and Baal could not stop it, showing who is the true God,

“What has My beloved to do in My house,
Having done lewd deeds with many?
And the holy flesh has passed from you.
When you do evil, then you rejoice.
The Lord called your name,
Green Olive Tree, Lovely and of Good Fruit.
With the noise of a great tumult
He has kindled fire on it,
And its branches are broken.

For the Lord of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced doom against you for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke Me to anger in offering incense to Baal” (Jeremiah 11.15–17)

In what have you put your trust? In what do you believe, if you could have it, would make your life what you want it to be? If you answer anything other than the Lord Jesus Christ, then you have made a bad choice!
