Great are the temptations to compromise the word of God, but Paul urged Timothy to hang on to the truth, and to do so with the right attitude,

Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 1.13).

The Lord knew what He was doing when He delivered His word to us in the form that we find it. Therefore, do not change it, but hold fast to that pattern of sound words that He gave us.

Do not be arrogant about it, but in faith and love that are found in Jesus Christ do these things, for He was never arrogant. He lived by the word of God, for truly it was His own word.
