Telling others what you have read

You might think that other believers know what the Bible says, because it has been around for centuries, and they have read it. Yet, that is often not the case. Or some people only read certain sections of the Bible. Therefore, when you read something, tell others about it. That is what started me writing these e-mail devotionals in 1996. It also moved Michaiah to tell others when he heard the Book of Jeremiah read,

When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, heard all the words of the Lord from the book, he then went down to the king’s house, into the scribe’s chamber; and there all the princes were sitting—Elishama the scribe, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes. Then Michaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read the book in the hearing of the people” (Jeremiah 36.11–13).

Those people in turn wanted others, especially the king, to hear the Book of Jeremiah. Things did not turn out so well with the king, who cut up and burned the Book, but still, when you tell someone what the Bible says, they are likely to tell someone else. Try it and see what happens.
