Ezekiel 1 shows a magnificent display! The prophet saw four living creatures and each one had a multiple of features. The four of them together carried a platform above them, and Ezekiel shows us what he saw on the platform,

Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around.

Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.

So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking (Ezekiel 1.27–28).

Ezekiel saw the four living creatures transporting God! What a sight that must have been to behold! Yet, if you read Revelation 4, you will discover that John saw a similar sight. Friends, we will see that sight someday, if we follow the Lord Jesus Christ until death.
