Lacking bread

Judah would not listen to the Lord. Therefore, He did whatever it took to make them listen to Him, to make them see the truth of His word, to make them see the truth about Him, and to make them see the truth about themselves. If He had to make them go without bread, He would do it,

Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, surely I will cut off the supply of bread in Jerusalem; they shall eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and shall drink water by measure and with dread, that they may lack bread and water, and be dismayed with one another, and waste away because of their iniquity” (Ezekiel 4.16–17).

What is it about humanity, whether Jew or Gentile, that we have to suffer badly before we turn to the Lord? What is it about the Lord, that He loves us in spite of our stubborn rebellion?

Let us praise Him today for His endless mercy!
