False prophets are like poorly made walls

Think of the walls around an ancient city. Why did people build them? They built them for protection that they might live in peace.

However, Jerusalem had false prophets who told the people that they would have peace, when that was not what the Lord had said. Therefore, He compared them to builders of a wall using improper materials,

“Because, indeed, because [false prophets] have seduced My people, saying, ‘Peace!’ when there is no peace—and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar—say to those who plaster it with untempered mortar, that it will fall. There will be flooding rain, and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall tear it down…Then you shall know that I am the Lord. Thus will I accomplish My wrath on the wall and on those who have plastered it with untempered mortar…” (Ezekiel 13.10–16).

Do not listen to people who do not speak according to the word of God, because they are constructing a wall for you that God will blow down. Trust only in the Lord and in His word.
