Repeatedly throughout the Old Testament, God declared that when He did something, Israel or some other nation would learn that He is indeed God. In Ezekiel 29, the prophet revealed this phenomenon. After quoting God, who promised to give Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar, the prophet revealed further,

“In that day I will cause the horn of the house of Israel to spring forth, and I will open your mouth to speak in their midst. Then they shall know that I am the Lord” (Ezekiel 29.21).

Israel was in captivity and had experienced a humiliating defeat from their enemies, because they failed to see that Yahweh is God. However, they would see that truth again when God gave Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar.
