Why should God allow wicked nations to prosper?

How would you summarize the message of the prophets? If I had to do it in one word, I would say, “REPENT!” God sent prophets to bring nations back to what was right, and if they refused to return, He would not allow them to prosper in the long run, even as He said to Israel,

“You shall sow, but not reap;
You shall tread the olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil;
And make sweet wine, but not drink wine.
For the statutes of Omri are kept;
All the works of Ahab’s house are done;
And you walk in their counsels,
That I may make you a desolation,
And your inhabitants a hissing.
Therefore you shall bear the reproach of My people.”
(Micah 6.15–16)

Nations can sow crops, but if they also sow wickedness, they shall not reap in economics, and they will reap death and destruction. Sadly, even Israel had to learn this lesson.
