What kind of sacrifice shall we offer the great King?

During the days of Malachi, the Jews sneered at the requirement to sacrifice to God. He saw their attitude toward Him, and He rebuked them for it,

“You also say,
‘Oh, what a weariness!’
And you sneer at it,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
“And you bring the stolen, the lame, and the sick;
Thus you bring an offering!
Should I accept this from your hand?”
Says the Lord.
“But cursed be the deceiver
Who has in his flock a male,
And takes a vow,
But sacrifices to the Lord what is blemished—
For I am a great King,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“And My name is to be feared among the nations.”
(Malachi 1.13–14)

They did not bring the best of their stuff as sacrifices, but brought what they had stolen, or that was lame or sick! Did they truly expect the Lord to accept their offerings? Therefore, He pronounced a woe upon them for cheating Him, after all that He had done for them.

Evidently, the nations saw what the Jews were doing, but He let them know that His name was to be feared among the nations, and their half-hearted worship caused the nations not to fear God’s name.

What about your worship? How do you offer yourself to Him? What impression are you giving the people of the world concerning God and Jesus?
